Western Region Centre Against Sexual Assault (West CASA)

WestCASA (Australia) is a counselling service that aims to facilitate the healing of victim/survivors of sexual assault and work towards the elimination of sexual violence in our society. Our services are available to women, men and young people 12 years and over who are victim/survivors of sexual assault.

WestCASA is founded on respect for the rights of victim/survivors to:

• be heard
• be believed
• be treated with dignity
• communicate in their own language, with an interpreter if necessary
• be treated with sensitivity and understanding
• have control over their choices
• be given relevant information about options
• have confidentiality and privacy maintained

Services:

• Counselling - short to medium-term
• Advocacy - information and or referral regarding legal, medical, financial and accommodation options
• Group Work
• Secondary and clinical consultation is provided to other professionals
• Education and training to the community, professionals and agencies
• After hours Crisis Care
• Outreach counselling services provided at Melton and Werribee (Appointments and referrals through WestCASA Footscray)

Area Served: Western (Metropolitan) Region of Victoria

Hours:

• Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm
• After hours the call is automatically diverted to the After Hours Telephone Counselling Service.
• 24 hours crisis care for people over the age of 16 who are survivors of recent sexual assault.

Cost: No Charge

Eligibility: Male and female survivors of sexual assault, their families, partners and friends

Referral: Self-referral and referral by other professionals

Appointment: Phone for appointment Monday to Friday 1pm - 5pm
